Welcome to My Website!
I’m a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at the University of Tennessee, where my primary interest is learning and development in adulthood. I mainly teach graduate courses in Adult Education. In our graduate program, we we offer Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. My research interests focus on self-directed learning, professional ethics for educators of adults, and professional issues in adult and continuing education. On the personal side, I live in Knoxville, Tennessee with my wife, Mary, a social studies teacher, and our dog and cat, Socks and Annabelle. My daughter, Megan, also lives in Knoxville. Among my personal interests are music, travel, and presidential history.
On this site, you will find resources related to adult education, self-directed learning, and professional ethics. I have also provided some biographical information including several photos from my personal and professional life, along with my vita, which includes a list of my publications. I am available for consulting and speaking, and a list of my areas of expertise can be found by clicking on the Contact Ralph page. While this web site focuses mainly on my professional background and interests, I have included a few "fun" items related to some of my personal areas of interest. If you are interested in presidential history, music, or minor league hockey, you might want to take a look at my Personal Interests page. I hope you enjoy visiting this site and welcome your comments.
